In a move to discourage people travelling on tickets not issued in their names, the Ministry of Railways has started conducting intensive surprise checks on running trains. On June1, 2010, based on definite source information that a group of passengers is likely to travel in train No. 2916, Delhi-Ahmedabad, Ashram Express, on such tickets which are not issued in their names, a surprise check was conducted by Centralised Ticket Checking squad in the train.

One hundred passengers travelling from Delhi to Ahemdabad, not having any reservation in their names in sleeper class coaches of the train, were detected by Centralised Ticket Checking squad, and amount of Rs. 61034/- was realized from these passengers, treating them as without ticket passengers.

Similar source information was received about a group of passengers, traveling in train no. 9224, Jammu-Ahemdabad Express, on June 3, 2010.

Seventy passengers traveling from Jammu to Ahmedabad, not having any reservation in their names in sleeper class coaches of the train, were detected by Centralised Ticket Checking squad and amount of Rs. 51450/- was realized from these passengers, treating them as without ticket passengers.
